Tufted pineapple, or real pineapple, or large-pineapple pineapple (lat. Ananas comosus) is a perennial herbaceous plant, a species of the genus Pineapple (Ananas) of the Bromeliaceae family.
Tufted pineapple is represented in the culture by a wide variety of varieties not only in South America, where the representatives of the genus Pineapple grow, but also in all tropical countries of the entire globe.
Tufted Pineapple is a tropical perennial herb up to 60 cm tall, with a rosette of long, narrow, coarse and at the same time succulent leaves, serrated along the edge.
The flowers are located on the flower-bearing stem at the top, densely in a spiral, so that an inflorescence is formed – an ear. The flowers are bisexual, zygomorphic, with three tepals, one pestle and six stamens. All flowers grow together, only the tops of the tepals and the covering sheet remain free. Stamens in the form of a bundle spiral around a column. The ovary consists of three carpels, three-celled, the placenta with ovules is located on the partitions at the site of joining of carpels.
In the phase when the pineapple is used as a fruit, it is large (up to 2 kg), similar to a conifer cone, a golden brown cluster, with a bunch of short leaves at the apex, which develop as a result of proliferation – germination of a peduncle through the cluster. The fertility consists of a rather juicy, but rough axis and extremely juicy and delicate fruits that grow together on the sides and grow together on their tops, bearing the remaining and rough parts of the flower and the covering sheet. The walls of an individual fruit are composed of carpels and overgrown perianth, receptacle and covering sheet, sometimes 1 out of 3 nests is underdeveloped.
Seeds in cultivars of pineapple do not develop. In the nests of a ripe fruit, you can easily find small ovules that stand out against the background of the walls of the nest in white. All parts of the fertility are penetrated by numerous conducting bundles. In the axial part they go mainly vertically, from the axis the beams pass in an oblique and oblique horizontal direction into the fruits.
Immature pineapple fruit has caustic properties, burns lips, affects the stomach as a potent laxative. Ripe fruit loses caustic properties.
Chemical composition
Pineapple pulp is 86% water, it contains a lot of simple sugars (12-15 mg%), represented mainly by sucrose, organic acids (0.7 mg%) – mainly citric acid, and up to 50 mg% ascorbic acid. In addition, pineapple contains vitamins B1, B2, B12, PP, provitamin A. The fruit pulp is rich in minerals – potassium (up to 320 mg%), iron, copper, zinc, calcium, magnesium, manganese, iodine.
Pineapple collodion, in addition to carbohydrates, vitamins C, A and B and numerous trace elements, also contains bromelain – a complex of proteolytic (that is, protein-destroying) enzymes of high activity. Thanks bromelain improves the body’s absorption of protein substances. The abuse of pineapples leads to damage to the oral mucosa. Pineapple contains vitamin C 40 mg% (in the leaves – up to 120 mg%).
Pineapple present fruit is a valuable food product. It is eaten raw and canned, and is widely used in the confectionery industry (sweets, jam, preserves).
Thanks to a complex of biologically active substances, pineapple has useful properties: it stimulates digestion, sanitizes the intestines, and reduces blood viscosity. However, it should be borne in mind that pineapple is a spicy product, it is not recommended to use it for stomach diseases.
The use of fertility:
- For digestive disorders: to increase the enzymatic activity of gastric juice during meals, it is recommended to drink a glass of pineapple juice or eat a fresh slice of the fruit. This is especially useful when eating a lot, eating a lot of fiber, meat. A glass of pineapple juice can help combat nausea during air travel or water travel.
- When overweight (pineapple is a low-calorie meal, 100 grams of the fetus contains only 48 kcal). The high content of potassium salts helps to get rid of excess fluid, which contributes to weight loss. Pineapple dessert enhances the digestion of fat and improves metabolism in the body.
- With thrombosis and edema.
- With calluses to remove areas of callus.
- Like a cosmetic mask for oily skin.
